If you want your kids to watch cartoons that are fun, educational and have a positive moral message then Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series is definitely for you!
Sullivan Entertainment is mainly known for its live action productions but they have created some wonderful animated programs as well. Anne of Green: The Animated Series has transformed many of your favourite people from Sullivan’s Anne of Green Gables and Road to Avonlea into beautifully rendered cartoon characters. Well known citizens of Avonlea such as Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, Hetty King and Rachel Lynde are all there offering their unique brands of wisdom in a fun yet meaningful way that kids can easily understand. And speaking of kids, who better than Anne Shirley, Diana Barry, Gilbert Blythe, Felix and Felicity King and all of the Avonlea school children to get into mischief and deal with many of the same problems that our own children do?
Unlike many animated shows targeted at children that are essentially just silly characters doing silly things, Anne: The Animated Series strives to teach children valuable life lessons. Each episode takes an important issue that children routinely deal with such as bullying, playing fair and getting “butterflies in their stomach” and dramatizes it in a fun way they can easily comprehend. Then, at the end of each episode there is a “Kids Talk” segment where a group of real children discuss what happened in the episode and what lesson they learned from it.
Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series is children’s programming with a positive, educational message that is fun, imaginative and entertaining. Anne: the Animated Series is often broadcast on PBS stations such as WGBH in Boston, so check your local listings. Many of the episodes are also available on DVD at shopatsullivan.com.
